To prove that he can do what he wants. By his own admission, Mikkel is both opinionated and stubborn if someone says he can't do something. Back in 6th grade, he wanted to learn how to make sushi. His teacher didn't think the class could do it, but by the next homeschooling class, there was (almost) sushi on the tables.
