The Danish Minister of Employment, Jørn Neergaard Larsen (V), wants to amend the Danish Holidays Act after a claim from the European Commission, which considers that the Danish Holidays Act is violating the European Working Time Directive. The problem is that Danish employees risk waiting more than a year before they have the right to paid holiday. This violates EU legislation, which demands that all employees be entitled to at least four weeks of paid holiday annually. Now, the Minister of Employment will discuss the issue with the social partners to determine how a new Holidays Act can be structured.
We will keep an eye on the reading of the bill and return as soon as there is any news.
